In our study, we involved a significant sample of Italian managers at three key moments: before COVID (2019), right after (2021), and today (2024). Thanks to our widespread network of executives and middle managers, we gained a clear and detailed overview on the changes under way at the workplace. What insights did we gather? The growing importance of work/life balance can no longer be denied! Working from home policies, a stimulating work environment and positive relationships with co-workers and managers have become central, especially post-COVID. However, in 2024 it appears there has been a return of focus on career opportunities and remuneration. Careful, though! Many companies have reviewed their rules of engagement: working from home, now considered a given, is no longer cited among attraction and retention factors. However, its absence may represent a decisive deterrent for candidates. The importance of building good interpersonal relationships and the company’s prestige remain in any case significant.
